Intro to JavaScript Workshop

Code Crew is happy to announce a two part series on the JavaScript programming language. The workshop is geared toward beginners and will introduce the fundamentals of Javascript and will get you started writing programs in this dynamic language.

Session I Objectives, Target is beginner JavaScript developers (June 11th):

  • Hilariously condensed 1-hour crash course on JavaScript language fundamentals
  • Holy Trinity basics: Using JavaScript with HTML (DOM) and CSS
  • Write basic JavaScript to hit Facebook, Google+, Flickr, basic AJAX fun.
Session II Objectives, Target is intermediate JavaScript developers (June 12th):
  • Learn how to structure your JavaScript programs with tried & true object oriented programming.
  • Write a basic class that implements an image carousel.

Prerequisites:

  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is helpful but not required
  • A laptop computer
  • Install Sublime Text on your machine

Instructor: Andy Tzou

Andy Tzou is an engineer working in Google's Rich Innovations team where he works to engineer new and exciting ad formats for advertisers in New York City . Andy has a Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon and teaches JavaScript and Node.js at General Assembly and through his company NodeLingo.
